school districtThe following are summaries compiled by Debbie Griffin of action taken at the Nov. 3 meeting of the Princeton School Board.

Coordinator gives special education report
Erin Dohrmann, Princeton special education coordinator, gave a report that says 473 of the district’s 3,506 students are in special education and about 12 percent of the 473 have identified disabilities. She said special ed services can begin as early as when a baby is born prematurely and can continue until a student is 21. Dohrmann said the district has nine students in the Onward transition program for ages 18-21. She and Superintendent Julia Espe said the district’s low number of special ed students is a credit to the regular education teachers who catch problems and recommend intervention.

Audit shows no surprises
A representative of Bergan KDV briefed the School Board about the annual financial audit it had conducted that found not much change over last year and standards that adhere to state requirements. There had been a small hiccup in the construction estimates that the auditor said is “nothing to be alarmed about” and normal with construction projects.
